  7.     In 1946, in DAVID LEAN'S classic film of Dickens' Great
  8. Expectations, JEAN SIMMONS played the young Estella to MARTITA
  9. HUNT'S spurned Miss Havisham, the brooding harridan in a
  10. tattered wedding dress who teaches her ward to hate men. This
  11. July, in a startling reversal of roles, Simmons, 60, will play
  12. the spinster in a Disney Channel mini-series. "Oh, yes," says
  13. Simmons, "it was kind of weird. But when they started putting
  14. the makeup on, and the wig and the dress, you get into it."
  15. Simmons, who once suffered from agoraphobia, says she can
  16. identify a little with the reclusive Havisham. But that's as far
  17. as it goes.
